In addition to live traffic information, did you know that Google Maps also shows typical traffic information?

Thorough route reconnaissance is synonymous with a professional approach to chauffeuring and VIP protection driving, and a map recce is always a good place to start.

You probably already know that you can see live traffic conditions on Google Maps, but did you know that Google can also present typical traffic information, too? Whilst it doesn’t work on mobile apps (confirmed on Google’s iPhone app), on a desktop it’s a doddle.

  1. Navigate to Google Maps in your desktop computer’s browser
  2. Click on the three horizontal lines in the search bar, then click Traffic in the dropdown menu
  3. At the bottom of the map, click Live traffic, and then select Typical traffic
  4. Pick the day of the week, and the likely time you’ll drive a route, to see typical traffic patterns

Google has provided us with a great feature to plan the right time to leave in order to get the boss to where he needs to be and, crucially, on-time. There’s further information on Google Maps Help Forum.
